Overview
The large
Multi-Purpose Window is used for a number of different functions, although its primary use is for displaying, creating, and editing the notes themselves.
To cycle through some of the ways that the Multi-Purpose Window is used just click on it.
The
Edit Item Section contains various text-editing controls that can be used to compose, edit and spell-check your notes. In addition to the standard cut/copy/paste operations, the controls allow highlighting specific portions of your notes using bolding, italics, underlining, font selections, colored text and more.
This
Note Control Section is comprised of "Full Note" controls in that the actions create, copy, save or delete entire notes, whereas the section to the right of this one is for editing existing note content.
Here you may create new notes (the blue arrows), either starting from a blank page or by creating a new note containing the current clipboard content. The green arrows allow notes to be saved to the stack and copied to the clipboard for transer to another application. A separate Trash stack is maintained to permit deleted notes to be recovered at any time prior to emptying the trash.
The
Search Control Area at the top left is the NoteFrog™ heart and soul and provides the instant search result interface. As you type your search strings you will see the count updated to show the total number of notes which match your search criteria as the the ever-decreasing matches themselves appear in the two windows below. Cumulative "AND" searching is intuitively available by simply hitting the [Enter] key after typing each term of a compound search.
The "Repeat Last Search" button allows fast return for activities requiring repetitive access to a matching subset of items.
You may clear the search and return to the entire stack of notes at any time by clicking on the "Refresh" button or by hitting the keyboard escape key [Esc].
The Item List Panel at the bottom left displays the first line of every note in the stack that matches the current search requirements indicated above. There may be hundreds or even thousands of notes in a given stack. The list shown changes on the fly as more characters are entered in the "Search" field above. Only the notes that contain the search strings at the current instant are shown in the list. The list changes as you type or backspace or clear your search terms and criteria shown above. The total number of current "matches" are shown in the small box. At anytime a note can be selected from the list and its content displayed in the large window at the right. The list also provides the method by which items can be dragged and dropped into alternate stacks.
Online Help WindowThe Online Help Tab provides help information as well as an interface to check for new announcements, new program releases, and other help functions. Most of the help interface is available only while you are connected to the Internet.
Stacks WindowThe Stacks Tab displays all your current stacks and provides for changing the active stack, creation of new stacks as well as a number of other stack-related functions such as moving notes between stacks and retrieving deleted items from the trash stack.
The Item Window
The primary use for the Multi-Purpose Window is for the Item Window. The Item Window displays the full content of the item (either a text note or an image) that is currently selected in the Item List at the left. The Item Window is used to display, create, edit, and spellcheck your notes.
